I think most people outside of NYC would be surprised to learn that we live side by side with the seagulls. Even I often find myself forgetting that Manhattan is in fact an island and Brooklyn (and Queens, and even the Bronx) has some really wonderful beaches. And they are only a couple subway stops away from my apartment!! How weird is that?
